Rescue Apparatus
The HME Heavy Rescue / Tactical Support Apparatus is state-of-the-art precision designed and quality built for performance, operator safety and space efficiency. At HME we know that one size does not fit all, so we build each unit based on the specific needs of each application. Cab, chassis, running gear and apparatus body is engineered as a cohesive unit! Applying aviation technology to HME's design and manufacturing operations generates a higher strength to weight ratio than traditional welded stainless steel or aluminum construction. Brushed 12-gauge #304 stainless steel panels are precision laser cut, form folded and assembled using stainless fasteners with aircraft grade ESNA nuts. Our process not only ensures superior joint strength, but also provides for time effective assembly. Quality lasts!

Access to tools and equipment is unequalled. Transverse compartments front to rear are complimented by transverse trays, shelves and tool boards that roll out a full 6' to either side. Rated at 500# in their extended positions you've got what you need where you need it. Space that goes unused in other units may be fully utilized with use of the optional "elevated shelving" system that can store rarely used but vital equipment high in the body on a simple to use, powered tray. More innovation from HME!

Mounted on any of the HME 1871 Series Custom Chassis, our Rescue Apparatus gives you an unmatched degree of performance and maneuverability in any situation. Engines from Caterpillar, Detroit Diesel and Cummins provide the power you need; HME engineering supports this with a steering cramp angle up to 52-degrees that can take you where you need to go, smoothly and promptly. The HME Air-Ride suspension is a "no charge" upgrade, enhancing ride quality and performance. Our large selection of chassis options offer you the ability to build your apparatus the way you want it - the way you need it.

"I just wanted to send you this note and tell you how pleased we are with the new addition to our Fire Department family. Last year we purchased a 109 foot Aerial Ladder from HME. This was the first new purchase for a vehicle of this type in the departments 50 year history. Since getting "Ladder-1" it has been both a source of pride as well as a valuable tool for protecting our community.

From the very beginning of the process, we knew a Quint type of unit would fit our needs. The 109 was more of a truck than we ever imagined we could afford. It has more ladder reach, more water on wheels and more pumping capacity than any other of the Quints in our area. Our selection began with visiting your website and finding Ladder-1 as a demo unit. Mr. Joe Merrill then met with us and showed off the vehicle to our crews and elected officials. After presenting this unique deal to our township board of trustees and showing them how it will serve the community well into the future, it was a unanimous vote to purchase the truck.

Ladder-1 is not our only HME. In 2001, we purchased an engine from HME which still runs first out on all fires and auto accidents. I must also compliment you on the service you provide to your owners. Anytime we have had a problem with either truck, just a phone call is all it took to remedy the problem.

My thanks to everyone who made this possible. And a special thanks to Joe Merrill. He was great to work with, and got all of our questions answered. The HME investment was a good one for our community. We are also proud to say that HME is built in Michigan! That carries a lot of weight, especially in this economy. When it comes time to look for our next piece of fire apparatus, you can be sure we will look to HME."
